Piraeus Port Authority Provides Departure
Schedules Real Time with TeleData's T3 IVR
Athens, Greece - Piraeus Port Authority, the largest
passenger port in Europe and one of the largest passenger ports in the world
provides departure schedule and updates with TeleData’s T3 IVR solution,
a contract obtained from our business partner Transcom Ltd.
The port serves 19.000.000 passengers annually (including
the Salamina - Perama commuting service which handles 8.7 million passengers
annually), which ranks Piraeus as the third busiest passenger port worldwide.
The departure schedules for ships leaving from the port are created months
in advance. However, due to the direct effect of weather conditions, which
at many cases can cause delays anywhere from 1 hour to 2 days, the schedules
have to be updated real-time for travelers to have an accurate departure
time.
These delays resulted in unsatisfied customers who complained
constantly about luck of organization. With high season only two months
away and the hosting of the Olympic Games six months away, they needed a
solution as soon as possible.
The two options available were to either have live operators
taking calls and updating travelers or automate the process. While the first
option was ineffective and costly, the second seemed to fulfill their need
of a solution that can be dependable and one that can be deployed within
a short time while the cost will not exceed their budget.
T3IVR is a solution for companies that need to automate
tasks, handle high call volume, increase productivity and profitability.
With the T3IVR any enterprise can automate database functions and provide
callers with up-to-date instant information, 24-hour customer service, manage
high traffic communications, automate repetitive tasks previously handled
from customer service personnel and thus in a very short time yield a high
return from the initial investment.
Installed on a 48 port, the IVR looks at the database
where all the departure schedules are updated and then reads back the information
to the caller; it also servers as a voicemail solution for the port’s employees.
According to Niko Papadopoulo responsible for the project “This was the
most dependable and cost-effective solution they could use. The ports employees
can focus on their projects while the IVR is running in the background.
The learning curve for the administrators was very short since there is
no maintenance.
Yaniv Livneh, CEO of TeleData, explains "this is another
illustration of how dependable and adaptable our solution is. With the assistance
of our valued business partner, Transcom, we were able to provide a solution
for the Port of Piraeus in no time. This is a straightforward IVR application,
which can be customized to take reservations if the need arises."
